Ikebana is a work of Japanese art that involves the manipulation of flowers to create a piece of floral expression of harmony and beauty. Actions involved are: watering, trimming, arranging, etc. It is created of two parts: "Ikeru" and "hana". "Ikeru" means "to give life" and hana is "plant materials". "Kado" is the "Way of Flowers", that is inferred in Japanese culture. Kado allows humans to communicate with flowers, to reconstruct the bonds of man and nature. Ikebana is a way to create a fusion of elegance to create new life. It allows a maturing of perception and mind as one alters life itself for the sole purpose of creating true beauty.
My thoughts about this article is that it describes the true essences of ikebana. Personally, I believe that ikebana is beautiful, a high-classed art that is a must to be respected. I personally wish to see true ikebana with my own two eyes in real life. I must see the flower arrangements that the Japanese started.
This ties in with the culture of Japan by reflecting their perspectives of life. It is a colorful image of how short, yet beautiful life is. Using flowers as elements of elegance, a symbol of serenity and fragile life, the Japanese have mastered floral art. Ikebana is art that embodies the mind, body, and soul by arrange flowers in a regal manner.
