Kabila suspended "exit letters" two years ago. Exit letters allow adopted orphans and their adopting families to leave the country back to their homes. At least 1400 children adopted had to live in orphanages since they could not leave. Congo has poor governance so corruption is common as money is usually extorted from families in large sums in order to gain exit letters.
I feel that this is highly unfair. This is a crime to the adopted children and their families who spent so much time and money in order to create a link between their loved ones. This policy seems selfish and unjust. It is not right to manipulate the jaws just because the term is almost over.
This connects to the political life of the country because Kabila is in his last term. The government is too weak and corrupted in accordance to this topic. It is important to politics because the laws that prohibit the exit letters are too debilitating the families of the adopted families. It causes disarray as Kabila's reelection was considered "treacherous."
